A regulator allows you to breath underwater. It is an important piece to diving safely underwater. Scuba diving regulators are the most important part of your scuba diving gear and impossible to do without it. Scuba diving regs are your life support system, delivering breathing gas at ambient pressure. Expect high performance and quality of design from pioneers in manufacturing such as Halcyon, Tecline, Cressi, Scubapro, Tusa and more. Diving regulators and their accessories are an essential item of dive gear; owning your own offers divers the comfort of knowing where and what your regulator has been through and that it has been properly serviced.
Its attaches to the tank, takes the air and regulates it from high pressure to low pressure where we can breathe from it. Your scuba regulator takes high pressure air from your scuba tank through a yoke or a DIN valve and adjusts it to the pressure you need for breathing. It supplies air only when you inhale (on demand) and directs your expired air into the water when you exhale. Our lungs would not be able to cope with high pressure air which is why it needs to be low pressure.
It also routes air to your BCD for buoyancy and instruments including a pressure gauge to see how much air you have left.
A scuba diving regulator ensures that you can breathe underwater. A scuba diving regulator consists of a 1st stage and a 2nd stage, in combination with a hose. There are two main parts of scuba regulators which are First Stage and Second Stage. The first stage is the block of steel that has ports drilled in it that screws on to the tank valve and is what regulates the pressure of high or low depending on which way the air is going. The 2nd stage is the mouthpiece and what you pop in your mouth to breathe from. Connecting the 2 stages is a hose generally made from rubber or a braided hose.
