Sidemount diving is becoming increasingly popular in the mainstream dive community. As an alternative to the traditional back mount twin tanks, you can dive with redundant gas supply strapped to the side of your body. Sidemount diving has a number of benefits for the recreational diver and technical/cave diver – if you have any back problems you have the ease of carrying the tanks to and from dive site, it gives you double the gas supply, it’s great for travel as not all places have twin tanks available for hire and helps with streamlining your profile in the water.
The Sidemount course is an entry level pathway suitable for anyone with an Open Water Certification or above. The Sidemount course covers proper rigging of cylinders, correct regulator configurations, proper weighting and a skill set for dealing with emergencies whilst having tanks at your side. Sidemount diving gives you flexibility and streamlining options.
